Time to Get Out and Get Social! Introducing STEPPING Out.
The Issue - Isolation
Isolation among aging seniors is a growing health epidemic and many are suffering as a result of being disconnected from support groups such as family, friends and community. The risks of feeling socially isolated are more than psychological, such as depression. It can detrimentally affect physical health as well: Research has shown that prolonged isolation may be equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
Isolation results from many causes, including poor physical and mental health, inaccessible public transportation in communities, and major life events such as loss and retirement.
The Answer - STEPPING Out - Senior Activity Calendar
In answer to requests from our clients and their families for ideas for local activities for their loved ones, we have created the STEPPING Out - Senior Activity Calendar. This calendar will serve as a tool for you and our aides to engage with your loved ones and get them out and social in their community.
The launch of STEPPING Out focuses month by month on community events and activities that will be of interest not just to seniors, but to your families and friends as well.
You can access STEPPING OUT here.
